MY view is fully formed that pantheism should be called simple theism, and that it is only the pantheistic conception of God which makes any sense of the term at all. Therefore pantheism is not a branch or a sect but the true description of God and the purest object of worship. Naturally I include panentheism within the term pantheism, as that term for a doctrine is misguided. When once God is associated with existence itself there is no need to speak of God in the universe or the universe in God, both are true at one and the same time. In fact, neither is really satisfactory, though they point to the same way from different angles. Ultimately what we mean is the Lord God Almighty. Furthermore, this very designation of Lord God the Almighty certainly discountenances any other bizarre temporal placement of God, whether it be in another universe, or outside the universe. So Christian Pantheism is true Christianity, and pantheism is true theism. All the anthropmorphism can be well absorbed, all the legend interpreted, all the scripture reverenced, all the artistry lauded, all will be justified in the general sublimity.
